Images in this series are courtesy of USGS National Center for EROS and NASA Landsat Project Science Office. These satellite enhanced images are as colorful as they are unique. This image is of Lake Disappointment located in western Australia. The lake was named by explorer Frank Hann in 1897. During an expedition, he followed creeks flowing inland in hopes of discovering a fresh water lake. The lake turned out to be salt water, not drinkable and hence the name.
